How It All Began....
One lovely summers day in Co. Donegal, Ireland, Róisín McArdle (the harper) was sitting daydreaming in a pleasant pizza parlour. Suddenly she looked over and saw Ciara Culllen (the accordianer) and thought to herself "Me n her n coly n rat should start a band!" With that she lookd around for inspiration for a name. Her eyes landed on a newspaper lying on the table. "Lá," she said to herself. After consulting with Ciara it was agreed that they would ask the others on their return to Scotland.
However, 2 weeks later as Róisín exited the ferry at Troon, she recieved a text message from Róisín Ann (the fiddler). It read "Hiya! Can you come over to Colette's (the banjoer) house tomorrow, you are to be in a band called Lá.I'll explain it all tomorrow." Róisín thought for a moment and then realised why that sounded familiar-she herself had made the band!
Róisín arrived at the house the following day and it turned out Ciara had arrived home first and passed on the good news. It was a joyous day as the Lá members held their first official practice in the Hunter's House. It was the first of many fun yet completely unproductive Saturday afternoons!
